For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Well, I am new to Changchun, China in general so I am not use to the whole "foreigner" thing....it is very odd to me to have total strangers, request to take my picture, or worse....sneak a selfie with me...I would perfer they just introduce themselves or just say "Hello"....I don't like to be referred to as a "foreigner"...I think that may be obvious. I believe each country has it's cultural "standards"....In the USA, when I hear somebody speaking another language, one that I understand, I start with a simple hello in that language, then ask if they are visiting from another country. I would NEVER assume someone is a "foreigner" on looks alone.Good Luck!

Well, when meeting people, it usually happens through friends, work or something that is mutual and random. In Canada, we don't go up to strangers and just ask for their number or take pictures of them.

If your english is good, just be honest, open, friendly and polite and that should work!
