For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Event Description

Clayton has kindly agreed to host the next Hometown talk on his home state of Wisconsin

The word Wisconsin originates from the name given to the Wisconsin River by one of the Algonquian-speaking American Indian groups living in the region at the time of European contact.[4] French explorer Jacques Marquette was the first European to reach the Wisconsin River, arriving in 1673 and calling the river Meskousing in his journal.[5] This spelling was later corrupted to Ouisconsin by other French explorers, and over time this became the French name for both the Wisconsin River and the surrounding lands. English speakers anglicized the spelling to its modern form when they began to arrive in greater numbers during the early 19th century. The current spelling was made official by the legislature of Wisconsin Territory in 1845.[6]

Great evening Clayton. Great to know that you are the home state of some famous serial killers! .... And Orson Welles and Gene Wilder

Hi Matt! Sorry you cannot join us but hey!

Just to let everyone know we have three more events planned

Ben is going to give a talk on both Brighton (UK) and Tokyo
Artie is going to talk about New new Hampshire and Boston
Norris is going to talk about Papua New Guinea

So, lots to look forward to!

We would really like people to come forward and tell us about where they are from, the evenings are great and I have yet to get a Chinese friend to contribute!

So come on everyone- both educational and fun!
