For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Event Description

Come usher in the Year of the Dragon at the most elegant and extravagant party of the year. From the same group that has brought you 2 (in)famous Halloween parties and New Year's 2011, we promise not to disappoint!

We now have a location. The club is called Nova 1948, it is located in the Er Dao District. It is on Dong Sheng Da Jie, north of Jilin Da Lu.

This brand new place will be sure to be the hottest club in the city, offering 3 massive floors of elegance. Don't be fooled by the posh look of the place, we have negotiated special drink prices just for this evening.

As you've come to expect, there will be great music to dance the night away. Also there will be door prizes and other special surprises. Naturally, at midnight there will be free champagne for all guests.

I have posted my phone number, I can send you directions in Chinese to help you find the club.

Two VIP buses will be supplied to help you arrive safely. They will leave Nautilus at 9.30 and 10.30, both picking up at Zhi You Da Lu and Remin Da Jie Macdonald's 5 minutes after said departure times.

Thanks, Tim, for organizing this event and the buses to get there.  It was a fun night!  Happy new year.

Fabian. Send me a text message and I will send you directions that you can show the taxi driver to take you right to the door.

No password. :)

I am in the same boat as Fabian.  I just arrived in Changchun yesterday and do not have any new year's plans, nor do I know many people here, especially ones who speak English.  Hope to meet some fun people tonight!

Jason: thanks for your insightful input, as always.

Heather: You make a good point, dinner is always a "wildcard" on marquee nights such as this. I suggest you do as exactly as you say; judge the waters and see what your group is feeling like. As such, if you feel inclined to join us at Nova 1948 for this historical event, feel free to text me and I'll me more than happy to send you directions in Chinese for the location. From Jinyue, the club is directly North (maybe a little West) from where you are: not a long way, less than 20 RMB, methinks.

새해 복 많이 받으세요!

The thing is, most of us will be supporting our Chinese teachers in a program in the AM and the school is buying us lunch so I'm not sure that many of us will be all that hungry! :) I'll talk to Neil and friends tomorrow...judge the waters...
