For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Event Description

Come one, come all, patrons of that panoply of peculiar pronunciations and permutations of pulmonary philological perambulations - The English Language.

 

Together as a cohort of teachers and students in Chang Chun we have a unique and necessary appreciation and understanding of English.

 

So what better way to test that knowledge than with a good old fashioned Spelling Bee?

This night will commence with a reading from Chaucer and close with an excerpt from Darwin's "Origin of the Species," so as to give a full round trip experience of the evolution of this most marvellous language.

 

The Bee will be structured fairly allowing both North American and the Proper OED spellings of words.

 

Grand prizes will be ceremoniously awarded on the night along with lavish Certificates of Participation.

 

So come along and try your brain and tongue with words like these...
