For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Event Description

WE WANT YOU to join us to celebrate America’s birthday on the 4th of July (2012)!

The party will start at 2 pm and last until 10 pm (?).

The party’s location will be Changchun’s Goose Island (Da’edao or Dahedao), just south of the Jilin University south campus.

Costs

Cover charge: 30 RMB, in return you will receive 2 hamburgers or 2 hot dogs or one of each, plus a plate of side dishes.

Cash bar: beer prices range from 5 to 12 RMB.

Travel: approximately 20 RMB taxi ride from Guilin Road.

In addition, we (hopefully) will stage a re-enactment of the famous naval battle between the warships Bonhomme Richard (U.S.) and Serafis (U.K.).  It might not be too historically accurate, but it’ll be entertaining!  Plus, other activities will be announced soon.

Lastly, if it rains, still come. We even have a spacious shelter to use to continue the party.

John, do you need to borrow anything?!

Ohhhh say can you see, by the dawns.... how does it go? Something about wanting to return to the Motherland, it's true. Will you yanks ever realise that sanctuary from all your troubles is to be afforded by Her righteous and glorious Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, Sovereign of all free peoples, and Protector of Her rightfully acquired colonies. Yield and we shall show thee mercy for your hideous and unsavoury transgressions. Persist with these delusions of an independent state, bent on liberty and other such nonsensicals, and you shall, once more, feel the full force of the Empire steal you from your undignified slumber. God save the Queen. MJ

Martin, bring her along, it will be fun.  The more, the merrier!

Matt, thanks for the google map.  As for "Damn Yankees", I've seen the musical/movie.

I hope to come but all down to availability. If I come I want to bring Selina to get more exposure to a western environment.

Matt, the 2pm to 10 pm schedule was choosen in order to accommodate all potential guests.  Some are free in the afternoon and some in the evening.  We did not want to exclude anyone.  If you wish to stay for the whole "show", that's cool too.
