For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Event Description

The best seanson for cycling in Changchun has been coming. It's not snowy, not windy, not hot. Why don't we go cycling? Let's do our first cycling covering most beautiful streets inside the city before it grows into a weekly routine which may bring us to or around the cities, lakes and hills outside Changchun.

Where to start: McDonald, Tongzhi Jie

When to start: 6:00 a.m. 19th, August, 2012

Route: Mac Donald--Tongzhi Jie--Ziyou Dalu--Remin Dajie--Do chaoyang Lu--Dongminzhu Dajie--Ximinzhu Dajie--Jiefang Dalu--Xinmin Dajie--Yan'an Dalu--Nanhu Dalu--Gongnong Dalu--Tongzhijie--McDonald.

It's 15.5 kilometers long and covers some of Changchun's best streets, and most of them have lanes for bikes. We will travle at a medium or low speed to enjoy the best season of Dongbei.

Thanks, Ferney, for your kind introduction. I didn't know Critical Mass is an worldwide experiment, while google then told me that Critical Mass is a book on Sociology. I guess it will also work in Changchun if we have a cycler group big enough. I once happened to cycle with a university's cycling team consisting of more than 50 cyclers and a car which is in the front of the team. They and I occupied a lane and we enjoyed a full previledge as if we are veichles. Join me!

Ferney, does cycling have anything to do with some sociological works? Kind of confused....
