For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Come out on Tuesday evening for hot chocolate or a glass of wine and great conversation. Across the street from Grandma's, 2 doors down from Lala Tea Shop.
A Chinese proverb says: “Tell me and I'll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I'll understand.” With this in mind, I would like to offer a brief interactive presentation on using guided discovery techniques to get our students more involved in their learning. Guided discovery is teaching by facilitating the students' discovery of language, rather than explicitly telling or showing them. Plenty of time for discussion after.
Maybe one of you will be inspired to offer to lead the next meeting in April! We can talk about it on Tuesday. See you there!

Maddalena - sorry to hear your back's been bothering you. Hope to see you tomorrow, but if not, then sometime soon. Mi manchi!
OK, 7:30 sounds good. Let's make that the start time.
I will get there for 7.30 - must eat first!
Maddalena, it's not Goin' Cafe. It's on Xikang Lu directly across from Grandma's. There is a tea place called Lala and to the right of that (if you're looking at Lala) there is another cafe with a wooden porch and green awnings. It's pretty new and it's nice.
Richard, I was thinking the discussion would follow along the lines of my presentation topic (see above). Please feel free to bring your ideas, questions, or arguments regarding the idea of creating opportunities for our students to discover knowledge on their own, as opposed to presenting new concepts in a more traditional teacher-centered style.
Please also bring ideas for future topics. I'd love it if another teacher would like to lead the next meeting!
Do we have a focus for the meeting or are we just coming for a discussion about it all!
Is the coffee shop "goin café"? but it's in xikang hutong..near happy home..not near grandma..so I don't know if it's that..anyway it's nice too in case!^^
I know the coffee shop but cannot remember the name!
Something to do with Teashop?
Anyway - will be there!
Does anyone know the name of that coffee shop? Richard Ridealgh?
