For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

I noticed that most of the officials had those green books with the rules, venue addresses, and a few other things in them. I think a copy of the rules for each event would be good for the participants to have.

Believe me Leo, I have no regrets. It was lots of fun, and I WILL be there next year! However, I won't be settling for second place. Mama needs a new bike. ;)

The only thing I feel bad about is that poor fellow who spent over 2000 yuan practicing his shooting, and only scored a 56. He must have been so disappointed.

Chris, the full score is the goal for all the participants. As for runners, you just run as fast as you can, and for football players, shoot the ball to the net as much as you can, for rifle, definately 100 is the top goal  :)   Leave your regret to the next year, that will be better.

Had an excellent time, Leo, and I will definitely be doing this again next year. One suggestion I have, however, is that, for the shooting event, participants should be told ahead of time what the minimum scores are that are required to enter the next round. For example, for the rifle event, I scored an 88 the first time around. I thought I would be advancing to the medal round. Then they told us the minimum score to advance in the rifle category was 90. This information would be helpful before we approach the firing line.

Ok, wish you can meet different people and make new friends by attending this event.

Thank you Leo. Everything has been arranged.

Comment by Leo on May 10, 2012 at 10:28

Speak frankly, I have never been to the shooting club before.  But it should be very simple for you.

Comment by Chris Knight on May 9, 2012 at 16:03

Thank you. What is the format for the shooting events? Is there any physical effort, such as running, involved, or is it a standard shooting event utilizing the four shooting positions, standing, kneeling, sitting, and prone?

Comment by Leo on May 9, 2012 at 16:00

Dear Chris Knight, I just consulted Mr. Wei Shuo, director of CCFAO who in charge of the games affairs about your question.  He replied me that if your physicial condition is good, we encourage the foreign friends to register this game.  Yes, you can do it !!

Comment by Chris Knight on May 9, 2012 at 15:41
Well, Leo, I want to participate in the men's shooting events. My university phoned to get more information and was told that since I am over 40 years old, the physical exertion may cause me to have a heart attack!!
