For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.
Well-known and very popular North Korean opera The Flower Girl is on at the Grand Theatre tonight (May 31st)and tomorrow night (June 1st), by the Sea of Blood Opera Company listed No.1 in DPRK! its the debut show and will then begin its tour in 15 other cities in China
The Flower Girl (Korean: 꽃파는 처녀; RR: Kkot Pa-neun Cheo-nyeo) is a North Korean revolutionary genre theatrical performance, supposedly written by Kim Il-Sung himself according to official North Korean sources. The performance is considered as one of the "Five Great Revolutionary Operas" (Korean: 5대 혁명가극), a group of classical, revolution-themed opera repertoires well received within North Korea. It was also made into a novel. A film adaption of the opera starring Hong Yong-hee was made in 1972
According to Kim Il-sung's personal memoirs, he personally created the ideas and foundation for the play himself whilst in a Jilin prison during the 1930s. The first section of his 1992 memoir With the Century (Chinese: 与世纪同行), entitled "Anti-Japanese Revolution"
