Herbs, herbs and more herbs

Not sure if you know but you can get a few fresh herbs at the Gui Lin Lu Market in the veggie area. Mint (for those tasty mojitos), parsley, dill and sometimes basil.

Mint - bo4 he2 薄荷

parsley - he2 lan2 qin2 荷兰芹

dill - shi2 luo2 莳萝

basil - luo2 le4 罗勒。

I have a few seeds for thyme, sage and a few varieties of basil. Also rosemary seeds but find this difficult to grow from seed.  Does anyone have a rosemary plant growing in Changchun? I would love a sprig or two to root and plant.

Actually the woman I buy the herbs from frequently has pearl potatoes and new potatoes.  She is located in the veggie section, second in on the right as you are facing Li Xin Jie.  You need to know what to ask for and sometimes she needs a day's notice in advance to get the herbs and potatoes.  Sweet woman.... known her for years.  Derek and Brooke often use her for purchasing veggies.

Pearl potatoes are like marble sized potatoes; just give them a good wash, toss them in an already heated roasting pan with olive oil and seasonings and then roast for 30 minutes.
