For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Changchun Friends

a great way to get involved

I'm looking to get some winter boots before it starts getting properly cold. I'm a UK size 12 (China 47 I think), so I've had no luck so far in markets or shops. Anyone know of any places I could try?

There's a shop that sells outdoor clothing next to the Walmart on the corner of Qian Jin Jie and Weixing Lu.

They have bigger sized boots and clothes. You can take the number 13 bus there, it stops across the road from Walmart.

Or try ZhongDong market. I got 48's. It will take awhile. Just go up to  places and say "Got 48's?". They laugh, but a few places did have them.

Agree with Kim. You really do have to look at the outdoor shops for those larger sized clothing items. Don't be afraid to try and haggle a bit, either.

Awesome thanks guys!, I'll have a ganders this weekend.

What kind of shoes do you want? There are several shoemakers who custom make shoes starting around 300 RMB, price depending on what leather you choose.

Oh and I forgot: There's always Taobao i.e. buying them online.
