For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

BTW , Perigee moon sounds really interesting. If you've got a telescope, There are some spots I know near Changchun where visibility could be significantly better.
Thank you Chris !
you know last year I went home and took some pictures of the milky way and it made me feel very interested in astrophotography and astronomy too. I've been looking to buy a Celestron astromaster 130EQ (newtonian, which I found the most suitable kind for what I want to do) however I don't feel it's gonna work at its best around here (pollution is always a problem here). So I checked some astronomy guides (for dummies lol) and I guess with Practice I could take some decent shots. Do you know anyone who has a telescope here, one I could try with my camera? I know Langlee has one but I haven't made an appointment with him yet. This is all so interesting but being in Changchun makes me feel buying one of these could be a waste of money, and time. Please tell me what you think ! thanks for adding me !
Welcome Alejandro.
A perigee moon is when the moon is at its closest point to earth. The opposite is called the apogee. The moon's orbit is not quite circular. It's almost elliptical (think of a slightly flattened circle), with the earth offset a bit from the center of the moon's orbit.
I will look out for it. What is a Perigee moon btw?
Perigee moon. 14% bigger (not much, BTW), and 30% brighter than other full moons for 2012.
Watch out for the moon tomorrow!!
LOL
I was kidding!
