For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Banned from Nanhu

Since I live very close to Nanhu Park (Or south lake park) It has become my everyday longboarding spot. However, last monday I went there wasn't the first time I got chased out by this huge golf kart-like minivan full of police officers (wonder what they're doing besides talking what they're gonna eat and drink tonight) so I've decided to stay away from that crowded place for a while and look for other spots. I've got a few suggestions:

1.- Changchun Park ( I know how to get there but I haven't got the slightest clue what's the name of the street or which bus can get you there) From hongqijie it's around 10 yuan by taxi.

2.- The river ( dunno the name) but It splits the whole city in two and it's surrounded by sweet quiet spots with lots of space and long streets with barely any traffic. I've figured out Chinese people don't go there much since there's nothing to buy  (lol).

Good places to meet and go cruise around the river are, Nanguan, 21st Century building (jiefang dalu and Dajing lu), 5 min walk from there we can start longboarding. Or Sculpture park. 10' walk from there and we'll be at a better spot than Nanguan=)

Can you guys suggest any other spots?

If you're a student (Valya!) maybe your school is suitable for it?

I don't know... I'll be waiting for answers!

Alejandro - can you post a clear photo of yourself as this travesty must be cartooned. 

Who else do you know has been subjected to this - Dann - maybe. I can see the cartoon in my head already - so please a photo of you and any of your roller pals.

Alright - roller pals (one of them is living in beijing now, Wilson Barrie) Dann Gaymer (got hurt bad the other day) and the other one is Valentina (she'll start learning next week) ... but we've got no picture of us together yet.  as for a picture of me? Might find some in my profile... anyway  I'll post more asap. BTW good job with those cartoons !

Cheers. I've got good photos of Valentina and Dann and I know Wilson - fellow Scot that he is and I think I've seen a good photo of him on this site - your photos of yourself on this site are great but I need a good clear photo - I hand draw them with a mouse so I need to see a clear image. But I have a funny idea for the sketch - not that I need much more as it sounds so comical as it is. Sorry to hear about Dann and take good care of Valentina.

Just a Clear picture? ok I'll post one as soon as I finish my lunch. Wilson hurt his leg.. only 3 stitches. And valentina will be just fine. It's not like I'll teach her to do 720 triple awesome kickflip bigspin revert. lol. I'm looking for a pic now.  =)
