For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Changchun Friends

a great way to get involved

This has always been my favorite park. The TV tower sits in this park and the views from the revolving restaurant at the top are amazing but the food is expensive, Chinese and nothing to write home about.

The park is easy to get and has a good warm feeling about it.

It's not too big but attracts a lot of different types of visitors.

A lot of Chinese musicians go there and it's nice to relax listening to them.

There are many things for children to do, although most are old and a little past their best. My Thomas didn't care and really enjoyed himself.

The park has been redesigned and will soon have a big cafe beside the park's pretty lake - that will be so cool.

There will be a golf practice area there too - hit into nets.

Beautiful bridges and a big hidden pagoda, lots of flowers and you can picnic anywhere on the many grassy areas, make this a great place to spend a few hours or more. Very close to Ouya too and therefore many restaurants and shops.

Agreed Mr Chooney - a very nice park - but is the restaurant open?

Yes you are probably right - it's been over 4 years since I was last up the tower. I will probably be at that park today as Mary is going shopping at Ouya which means I can go to the park to explore with Thomas. I think I'll call this activity Park Bagging - like Munro Bagging back home - which is climbing as many Scottish mountains as you can = I've done Ben Nevis and Ben Lomond - there are 283 Munroes though - a Munroe is a mountain over 3000 feet - called The Munroes after the man who cataloged them. We have 3 classes of mountains - The Corbetts with altitudes between 2500ft and 3000ft and The Grahams between 2000ft and 2500ft.

So Park Bagging will be a good activity but first I need to catalogue them and class them maybe. It will be good fun doing this and can be a challenge for others to follow.

Also did you know Changchun is nicknamed “A City in the Forest”, because Changchun is surrounded by wonderful natural beauty.
