For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Morning/Evening Prayer from BCP

Information

Morning/Evening Prayer from BCP

Weekly gathering of interested to participate in Morning or Evening Prayer from the Book of Common Prayer.  A priest is not required to lead either one of these services. This is NOT a church, just a weekly gathering to read.

The Book of Common Prayer is a collection of Daily Offices, Services, Prayers, the Psalter and Rites use by the Church of England and other Anglican churches throughout the world such as the Episcopal Church in the US and the Anglican Church of Canada, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and many other African and Asian nations.  The lessons follow a three year rotating lectionary.

Morning and Evening Prayer are simple services which include prayers and collects that have remained constant throughout the centuries.

The intent of this group is NOT to start a church but to just meet weekly and read together one of these two offices.

I usually do Morning or Evening Prayer everyday online but thought perhaps others in Changchun might want to join me once a week.  We will alternate weeks between Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer.

How does 7 pm on Wed Oct. 12 sound for Evening Prayer?  If this is a good time for folks, I'll arrange a place.

David - I will be away for a bit but would like to join in. Where and when are you thinking of meeting?
