For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Changchun Friends

a great way to get involved

Information

The Royal Society for the Promulgation of Classical Music and Opera

There is truly great art that exists in the world. We have sculptors that cage the human form in marble and stone and architects that turn base materials into a spire that tickles the fannies of the gods.

Writers have stood to speak through their own silent medium that has in effect caused much disquiet, and disquiet has been hushed amidst those tufts of powdered dust under the feet of the Bolshoi.

Music however, that most divine of mediums, in my opinion, speaks to the heart and dare I say it, the soul, in such a way as to bring all back to the purity that was youth and the innocence that made us stop, think and ask, in light of this do we really need god?

Having spent countless hours trying to convince the dregs of this city to understand Classical music and to embrace it in all it's perfection and utter mastery, I have taken it upon myself to start this group.

A society of like-minded and educated individuals to promote and discuss and debate and relish the Verse of Verdi, the Passion of Puccini and the Majesty of Mozart.

If you consider yourself educated and sophisticated please join us in this the greatest calling of all; to summon the muses, expel the demons of modern music from simpler beings and revel in the extraordinary power of the highest art - Classical Music.

Ladies and Gents, our first event of the year for this fine group is to take place. Check out the events page for details. It promises to be a splendid affair.

No music yet!

When is this going to happen? I want to eat cheese and drink fine wine to the beautiful music of Mozart, Delius and whoever!
