For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Saudi Arabia visa's

Hi everybody. Corrie and I have signed a contract in Saudi starting in April... really sad to leave you all, but we may be back. Does anybody have a contact name or e-mail at the Saudi embassy in Beijing as their phone is always engaged? We want to try and get the visa from Beijing so that we don't have to fly home and can save for a visit back to Changchun. Thanks

If you are working, your employer should have got Residence Permits for you. They supersede a Z-Visa. All a Z-Visa does is allow you to obtain employment. After someone employs you, they are supposed to get you a Residence Permit.

Hey Chris we have all the stuff for China, but we leaving for Saudi and Graeme (our son) will be staying here. He is on a student visa and we need to know whether he needs to be with his parents if he isn't 18 yet?

He should be okay, Howard. A couple of years ago, my university had a bunch of Russian students here, learning Chinese. The youngest was 15, and the oldest was 17. Check though, just to make sure. Sometimes they change the rules more than we change our socks.
