For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

A bit of history for those who are interested

When I lived in London (pre-internet days!) I was invited to join a Chinese dinner club by a friend from Shanghai. You were allowed to bring one guest who was immediately invited to join the group. Great fun. I met a lot of interesting characters and discovered the Chinese restaurants in London

Fast forward a few years and when I was in Singapore we used to organise monthly dinners - french, Indonesian, Italian, Egyptian - again great fun with up to 50 people coming along

Now we are in the Chun - lets do the same!

All ideas welcome!

That looks like an awesome menu. Do we have to choose from it or it is like a buffet?

japanese dinner on Wednesday 15th February - check out the Events page

Japanese cuisine has developed over the centuries as a result of many political and social changes throughout Japan. The cuisine eventually changed with the advent of the middle ages which ushered in a shedding of elitism with the age of shogun rule.

This special restaurant will for a set price of 125rmb allow us to select what ever we want from their comprehensive menu. Warm saki and Budweiser are all inclusive in the price!

Richard Roman and myself have selected a few dishes already, but when you arrive you may select anything you fancy! I have taken the liberty in ordering:

                                 Salmon

                                   Tuna

                           Assorted platter

                              Eel in sauce.

                                Oysters

                              Caviar Cones

And some Chicken wings!!!!

Space is limited to 25 so please RSVP. Thanks
