For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Changchun Wolves Football!!!!!

Information

Changchun Wolves Football!!!!!

We are hoping to start a new club in Changchun for anybody who wants to play. We will be called Changchun Wolves and we are very excited at the prospect and what is ahead of us. A lot of teams are interested in playing against us. As a start, we will have an adult men's team, after a year or two we hope to expand to Changchun Juniors and maybe even have a Women's team if there is enough interest. I am a FA Level 2 qualified coach who had started to work towards my UEFA 'B' and had worked as a coach for 8 years before coming to Changchun.

It isn't all going to be about winning or losing, this is about meeting up, having fun, LOTS OF BANTER and a chance to be a little competitive as well as a chance to regain some of the fitness we have lost due to the nature of living in Changchun.

If you are interested then just send me an inbox message with your number and I will contact you, that said, all details of upcoming training and match days will be on here. Training will be slightly rigorous but fun.

We also hope to get a lot of support at matches from the Changchun community!!

No football this week, we will wait until we can play indoors. I'm of the understanding that should  be next week.

I will send someone tonight at six to check it out. Also looking at other places but so far they say the winter schedule hasn't started yet - i.e. indoor - so we can't book for football yet. but we're on it and have joined a footballing QQ group that will help us. When I have something concrete I'll let you know.

Yes, I have a ball. The ball is rolling, I hope the turnout is good.

The main task was to get the football started and that's-why I booked it. The ball is rolling. The square is always lit up at night though the individual football parks don't have special lights. It won't be perfect but it will get it started.
I will got here on tues at 6pm to see.
Also do you have a ball? You are doing great and as you knew already the interest is great. Since Alex left(a long time ago now)football has died and it's alive again and this time it will be even bigger.
You have achieved your first objective.

Also, has anybody played there at night who can give me more info about whether they have lighting there or if the visibility is sufficient?

Comment by Lee Mitchell on October 14, 2012 at 17:58

OK everybody, it has been brought to my attention by a few people that at the said location on Wednesday there might not be enough visibility to actually play football, which would be horrific. It looks like we have quite a lot of people attending and this would not go down too well. If it's all we have then we will have to make the most of it, but, I'm putting this out there in the hope that somebody knows of somewhere more suitable to have our first meet and matches.

Good to have you on board guys. We are going to start out with what we can. It all depends on numbers. If we have a big turnout then we will aim for proper 11 a-side, if not, we will go for 7 a-side. We will try to accommodate everybody that joins so it is the perfect fit for the individual.
