For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.
This is a group for all language teachers interested in sharing ideas and supporting each other. I hope this will become a place for a kind of informal professional development, where we can ask questions and share our good ideas, as well as a place to vent about our frustrations and help each other through those rough days! Let's pool our creativity and develop a strong professional network!

Thanks to everyone who attended our first meeting last night. We had a small but lively group! Richard brought a very informative presentation about using flash games downloaded from the internet in the classroom. Perhaps he will be kind enough to post some links here? Other members also had good suggestions for getting our students engaged in our classes such as playing upbeat music at the beginning of class, using readers' theater and playing competitive games, such as jeopardy. Did I leave something important out? Remind me, please!
Do you have other favorite activities for getting students involved? Post your ideas and questions here!
Any ideas for a future meeting topic?
Thanks, Maddalena. Event info coming soon.
Hi! That's a nice idea! I always need new suggestions for inventing new conversation and audio video lessons! also being a serious teacher, but making them have fun, it's not that easy!^^I'm looking forward to your event!^^in the city center I think would be easy to reach for everyone, and also good in front of a cup of chocolate maybe!^^
Marcella - I suggest that you pick a date and we have a meeting - this is a good idea and am sure many people will want to contribute. Tuesdays are pretty good days as they are normally free from other events
Thanks Richard and Richard! Please invite anyone else that you think might like to join. And I'll put up a picture soon, I promise.
Put up a picture!
Great idea!
Am willing to help and contribute!
