For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Changchun one of the 5 happiest places in China

Shanghai one of China's 'most miserable' cities
Locals react to report claiming Shanghai is about as much fun as a hole in the head
For one of the fastest-growing cities in the world, Shanghai is a surprisingly depressing place in which to live -- that's the takeaway from new research on the satisfaction levels of China's city dwellers.

According to the report on the happiness of Chinese residents, published earlier this month, Shanghai is third to last out of 100 Chinese cities when it comes to the happiness of its people.

Hangzhou, Chengdu, Qingdao, Changchun and Chongqing take the top five spots as the happiest cities in China -- at least, that's what the China City Competitiveness Research Association and Contemporary China Studies Institute of HKBU says.

It all depends on who they asked and what result they wanted to get. Sorry but you can get any result if you massage it to fit. On saying that Changchun is great, I've always loved it here and it's a great place for young Thomas to grow up. My only experience of Shanghai was also great - I loved the city and had a fantastic time there and the surrounding area,  and would recommend as a "must visit" city to everyone.

I found it interesting in the comments of people from Shanghai which followed this article.  Not a single one referred to Changchun; only the other four cities.  When I lived in Shanghai in 2007 and told people I used to live in Changchun, only a handful  of people even heard of the city.  That is simply amazing to me that Chinese only know about Changchun from the evening weather report.

Interesting that Hangzhou, Chengdu, Qingdao and Chongqing all have links but Changchun has none. It's a great place to live but unless we share our experiences here, no one else will know about it.

One of the reasons I live here is exactly this fact, Changchun is a really nice city to live in!
