American English vs Aussie English vs the Queens English

I don't really count the Aussies as they just shorten perfectly good words such as barbeque to barbie

With the aim of avoiding such fraught linguistic ambiguities, I have produced, below, a list of the British words along with their American equivalents. God save the Queen!

Wellies: Rubber boots

Newsagent: Newsdealer

Candy floss: Cotton candy

Flat: Apartment

Bum bag: Fanny pack

Holiday: Vacation

Victoria sponge: Sponge cake

Fairy cake: Cup cake

Marquee: Tent

Mobile: Cell phone

Films: movies

Trainers: sneakers

Pram: stroller

Redundancy: severance package

Braces: suspenders

Football: soccer

Jumble sale: rummage sale

Letter box: mail slot

Pharmacy: drug store

The guy on the left is Jon Walsh (same last name as me) who lives in Siping.
Walsh was originally an English name until about 1100 A.D....now the Walshs
are mostly in Ireland. Jon Walsh is from Newcastle.

Anyway, I digress...

On to your blog post. I am always amazed how different American-
English and British-English are. I actually have a British-English dictionary
that I bought. It is a LONELY PLANET guide....and there are A LOT of
entries! It also mentions Welsh and some others. Pretty interesting.
