For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Changchun Friends

a great way to get involved

Hi All,

Im moving back to Changchun from Singapore in early March with work and have not been here since 2010. Can you let me know where the best bar locations are - I remember back in 2010 the corner cafe was quite good esp on Friday evenings but I understand this has since disappeared. Is Austin bar good ? Any decent clubs in the new Sheraton hotel ?

I recall a latin bar on Longli Lu way back in the mid 2000s but I think this has since long gone (was it called La Loco... ??). From memory Longli Lu seemed rather dead in 2010 - still the case ? Im well familiar with the Mayflower presence and just wondering if they still hold the monopoly on nightclubs in Changchun or have things progressed a bit since ?

All feedback very welcomed.

Thank you all.

Chris.

Thanks Jack - forgive my ignorance but what is HH ? Is the classic bar still running ? I remember a great coffee place on xian Lu, same side as the classic bar, name evades me at the moment. Was a wonderful spot though with massive armchairs and Latazza coffee.
