For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.
From today until July 4th, a holiday-related quiz question will be posted everyday. The quiz master at the celebration will give a beer or two to the person or persons who correctly and/or uniquely answers the most questions first. Yes, timing is everything in this contest. However, creativity will be rewarded too.

And....for those who are familiar...."Battle Shots"...
Unfortunately for the 3 Italian ships (the Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria) they had no armaments and were the first to go down.
The Nina is in the upper right corner (blue dots). The Bonhomme Richard is in the lower right corner(black dots). The British Serafis is just to the left of the Bonhomme Richard (also black dots).
YOU SUNK MY BATTLESHIP!
There were actually 9 ships in that battle including the Monitor, Merrimac, USS Arizona, the
Nina, Pinta, the Santa Maria, British Serafis and the feared German ship "The Bismarck".
All 9 ships sunk (see diagram above)
July 2 Question: During the naval battle between the American Bonhomme Richard and the British Serafis, what happened to each ship?
Vinz is correct, Louis XVI. And we Americans thank the French for their assistance in the revolution. Without it, the colonies probably would have still won in the end (read Barbara Tuchman's The March of Folly), but your help certainly caused the war to end much sooner.
