For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Changchun Friends

a great way to get involved

How do you say cheers in any language?

Lets say that we are in Belarus and drinking with a dodgy, middle-aged, sweating, singlet-wearing mobile phone salesman. He has just raised his glass to toast our soon-to-be lucratively profitable multinational yet partially legal trade of used Soviet-era mobile phones to a Lithuanian copper conglomerate.

What should you say, but, naturally, Будзьма!, budzma, may we live!

How do say cheers, bottoms up, gan bei, in languages other than English?

No wikipedia, google or baidu; lets together make a list and see how many we can compile. I start with Belarus, and raise you...

Thai:

ชัยโย chai-yo!, Hurrah!, or,
ชนแก้ว chon-kaew, Let us toast, or,

หมดแก้ว mod-kaew, Bottoms up.

If we reach 50 in 10 days I will sell to each person who contributes to this list one such Soviet-era walky-talky for a very reasonably discounted price which you can use for your own leisure or to expand your global business.

(Such telecommunicative devices may not have reliable signal in your region.)*
