For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Maybe some sort of contemplation of the helter-skelter character of traffic in some Chinese cities versus the smug (veneer of) orderliness in most Western cities' streets, with particular attention to how social anxiety manifests as road rage in the latter but blooms as poetry or song-and-dance numbers in nations with stricter gun-control policies. (I really don't have a good idea; I just wanted to participate. Please forgive me-- if forgiveness is necessary. Good luck on the essay.)

There are endless topics you could use for your essay. The roles of government, music, social class structures, food, athletics, the only-child side-effects, fashion, marriage and on and on.

The importance of family unity and ties, the varying perceptions of beauty in the west and in China, differing views on capitalism, you could take a look at the liberal minded societies of the west vs the more conservative traditions of China, differences in basic values... There are several topics you could explore...
