For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Changchun Friends

a great way to get involved

If you've visited any of the seven wonders of the world could give us your experience and hang a picture.

I visited this pyramid the first time in 1992 and the experience was awesome. The perfection and majesty left me speechless. Contemplates in silence as if trying in this way to thank the builders of this true wonder.

In 2007, Chichen Itza's El Castillo was named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World after a worldwide vote http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chichen_Itza

I have seen both the Coloseum and Chichen Itza (Chicken Pizza is how the guide taught us to remember the name). During one camp, I had my students create one of the 7 Ancient Wonders and make up a story. They rehearsed and told the story to the parents, it was awesome. Not a shread of truth, but amusing and every member talked about their Wonder of the World

Wow Richard! You did a good job ...!

Every era has its own wonders. You have placed almost all the wonders of the history.
I think the wonders of our time will take long time to be accepted for all in this order because it is difficult to place only seven wonders when in fact each country has a lot of really wonderful things.

In 2001 an initiative was started by the Swiss corporation New7Wonders Foundation to choose theNew Seven Wonders of the World from a selection of 200 existing monuments.[11] Twenty-one finalists were announced January 1, 2006.[12] Egyptians were not happy that the only surviving original wonder, the Great Pyramid of Giza, would have to compete with the likes of the Statue of Liberty, the Sydney Opera House, and other landmarks, calling the project absurd. In response, Giza was named an honorary Candidate.[13] The results were announced on July 7, 2007:[14]

Wonder Date of construction Location
Great Wall of China 5th century BCE – 16th century CE China
Petra c.100 BCE Jordan
Christ the Redeemer Opened 12 October 1931 Brazil
Machu Picchu c.1450 CE Peru
Chichen Itza c.600 CE Mexico
Colosseum Completed 80 CE Italy
Taj Mahal Completed c.1648 CE India
Great Pyramid of Giza (Honorary Candidate) Completed c.2560 BCE Egypt

The historian Herodotus (484 – ca. 425 BCE), and the scholar Callimachus of Cyrene (ca. 305 – 240 BCE) at the Museum of Alexandria, made early lists of seven wonders but their writings have not survived, except as references. The seven wonders included:
