For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Since it's just a weekend, your time is too limited.. Hectic social calendar.. At night, the Avenue of the Stars at the end of Nathan Road has nice places for fine dining with a view of HK night scene..  The Peak and Victoria Harbour is a must if time permits.  If you want to buy some stuff,  The Galleria Duty Free Shop has a branch in Peking Road, 5 minutes from Chungking Mansions.  Our Unionpay Debit Card issued in the Mainland can be used in HK... and oh, nightlife.. Lan Kwai Fong in Central is a must.. downside, if you return to TST after 1am, there's no more subway so you need to take a taxi... the fee doubles including the special fee for crossing the Central to Kowloon underground tunnel.. ouch..

Fabian is right.. Flights to Shenzhen are much cheaper than direct flights to HK.  Right by the exit of Shenzhen Airport Arrivals, you'll find a Trans-Island Bus company which can bring you to different places in HK, my stop being Tsim Sha Tsui/Kowloon.  I think I still have their card if you  need it.  An hour and a half travel time, if I remember it right and costs 120rmb or so.  The downside of this is you have to get off the bus to join a sea of weekend travellers crossing the Shenzhen Bay Port border but this is much better than the Louhu Border.  On the other side of the border, you'll find their HK bus counterpart.  Don't lose your receipt and sticker.  As to hostels, you can try the ones in Chungking Mansions or Mirador Mansions which are right at the booming district in TST/Kowloon.  Their station is behind Harbour City in Canton Road which is a 15-minute walk to Chungking and Mirador Mansions. Guangdong Guesthouse was full when I went there. Hostels cost 250-350HKD.

What I did was.. Travelled to Shenzhen Friday night.. stayed from 12midnight to 8am in a hotel near the airport.  Left SZX at 9:30am via the Inter-Island bus.  Arrived HK around 11:30... Stayed overnight.. Left TST via the Inter-island bus at 11:30 to catch my 4 pm flight..  I was too early...

If you choose the direct flight to HK, the hassle is less.  Right at the Arrivals Hall, you'll find the Airport Express train that can bring you to HK Kowloon and Central.  23 minutes or so, 90HKD to Kowloon.  Buy a return ticket so you can take the free shuttle to and fro the station.  The airport express station in Kowloon is a bit far from the guesthouses.  Look for the free Airport Express shuttle terminus..  Take the K2 Shuttle that brings you to The Kowloon Hotel and The Peninsula HK.  The bus stops at the back of The Pen.  It's only about 10 minutes to the Chungking and Mirador Mansions... Have Fun in HK...
