For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Should be in this order: C: the newly arrived expat foreign teacher ready to teach ! D: The same teacher 6 years later, lost his hair but still ready to teach. A: the same teacher 19 years after, matured in many ways- (grown a long beard to prove it). B: our same teacher 32 years after, worn out, ver wrinkled, had hair surgery in Dalian, thinking: "Why did I ever come here in the first place ??".

I will ask students at the college when they return from the holiday.

I know about Qian Xuesen and it is a very good idea but I am not 100% sure.

Martin doesn't know Qian Xuesen at all.

Good work Nicholas.

I think I cracked it. After about an hour searching google.

Legendary Chinese scientist, father of space technology, Qian Xuesen.

 Read about him here

In 2008, China Central Television named Qian as one of the eleven most inspiring people in China.  He died at the age of 97 on October 31, 2009 in Beijing.

Do I get a cookie, or something?

Norman Bethune had a moustache, according to his wikipedia entry, and other monuments to him, in China, include the moustache.

C could be John Magee. So could D, actually. Or Edgar Snow.

But IF A is Da Vinci and B is Einstein and C is Edison, what links them together is that they all had dyslexia, apparently.

But if we're following the route of science, then the obvious candidate for D is...

I dunno, but since En-ger-land has no representative on this list, I'd say James Watson, joint-discoverer of the structure of DNA.

It might as well be David Puckett as no-one has nailed it yet.

By the way, I am like everybody else - I must guess too

as there are no names on the statues.

So I like A) Da Vinci B)Jack no sorry Einstein C) Edison D)?

D) What nationality do you think he is? I immediately thought American - like Eisenhower but I know it's not him and do feel he is a scientist or inventor.

The 3 below are noted and great but ...... Someone must know or have a good idea.
