For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Had to look up this -never heard of the character.

Tolstoi - interesting!

Fantômas is a fictional character created by French writers Marcel Allain and Pierre Souvestre. One of the most popular characters in the history of French crime fiction, Fantômas was created in 1911.

Did a google on Norman and the photos don't match up to D but interesting read. I cut this out of a list of most admired foreigners of which Norman Bethune sits at number 2 behind Thomas Edison.

Norman Bethune诺尔曼·白求恩 (nuo er man bai qiu en)
Virtually unknown in his native Canada, Bethune is remembered somewhat for his work as a battle physician in the Spanish Civil War. His experience there turned him to Communism, and he made his way to Shaanxi to help the Red Army fight the Japanese in 1938. He died a short time later while working with the Eight Road Army (八路军) and was commemorated by Mao Zedong in the essay, “In Memory of Norman Bethune (紀念白求恩).” The essay became required reading during the 1960s, and is still commonly found in schools today.

Many of us are off to Matt and Marta's wedding today for a couple of days so we will not be able to see you until the 4th of October. How long are you here for Sal? And why don't you come with us to the wedding - you must know Matt - you are both Choonie cartoons.

Thanks Sal and so good to hear from you. I think of you often and wonder when you will return if ever. As for your answer - tell me more - who? and why? But your photos plead a good case.
