For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.
Here is the cover of "An Open Road and a Full Tank of Gas, Part 2". A DINER is both an American restaurant and an American institution. (I understand there is also a diner chain in the UK called OK DINER)Diners serve standard American food like cheeseburgers, fries and cokes and are usually open 24 hours. The next picture is of a famous American painting called "Nighthawks" depicting a late night diner scene. The Nighthawks "Update" features American celebs who died to soon including Elvis, Bogart, Marilyn Monroe and James Dean.

I had an event featuring OPEN ROAD stories with Dann and Alex last September at the HAPPY HOME. It was fun. It went well. Good time had by all.
Free food along with being paid for the article...that's really weird...
Mostly travel and feature articles. But..."this is China"....so a lot of weird, unusual and/or interesting topics can be covered. One time I did a food review for a 5 star restaurant and got the free food along with being paid for the article. There is other media related stuff too. Like...I did a voiceover for a children's book. But...that kind of thing doesn't happen every day. I keep my day job.
oh really? what kind of subject do you write? on travel?
Yeah, Edward Hopper's 1942 "Nighthawks" painting is in my hometown's museum (The Art Institute of Chicago).I am a freelance writer. The book cover artwork was done by a friend of mine from the Phillipines.
Edward Hopper has a painting called Automat, that's the most impressive one for me. a woman sitting behind a table, maybe homeless. the people in Hopper's paintings always look like homeless. what is your media? maybe marker pen and oil pastels? and what's that on the field? they don't look like grass, i thought they are some kinds of insects or mosquitos at first glance :D
