For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.
Binge-drinking is increasingly common for Chinese professionals – often it's even in the job description
Peter Chi knows he has to cut back on his drinking. It is not much fun at the best of times, and the worst have included hospitalisation – after drinking fake alcohol – and the numerous evenings where he has passed out at the table.
"No one likes binge drinking, but it's not under your control," he complains. "Of course I don't like it, but there's nothing I can do."..........................

Come Alex, we all drink, and sometimes more than we should!! Pretending to be good examples, or worse, telling other people to be some, makes us nothing more than hypocrites. I believe the key is in learning/teaching that anything you like that is abusingly used loses its flavor...
