For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Event Description

Hello, I will organize with the World Life Club a huge miniature wargame. The thema is the battle of Gravelotte St Privat, one of the biggest battle of the Franco-Prussian war of 1870. The surface area of the game will be 15 sqm and the number of miniatures around 8 000, so the view will be quite spectacular. I will need 11 motivated players, 6 for the German team and 5 for the French team. If you like history and/or strategy game, like chess, please feel free to participate. The game will be organized in November or December and it will be a two-three days event.

A French man imitating a German, almost as absurd as an Englishman being a French man:)

Hello generals, I need to know before tomorrow 7AM about Dominik, Jason and Colby because if they don't play, I need to find replacements, which would be among my students probably and I need to tell them tomorrow. So if I don't have news about you three by tomorrow morning, I consider you are not participating, you will still be able to come as spectators.

I don't think so, there already were two practice games. But as you tried just once, I can propose you to play at my place one afternoon to explain you better. This Sunday will be difficult for me, I already have something to do.

For the schedule of the big game, I propose you as follows:

I install the game on 25th and solve the first turn. On 27th, the game can begin at 9 A.M and end at 6 P.M. with a 1 hour break in between (12AM-1PM). The French and German teams go to eat separately and speak about their strategies. It can be inside or outside WLC, this will depend on Richard. After the first day of battle, something can also be organized. Then we continue on 3rd of December from 9 AM to 4PM. I can do a short debriefing after that and then I will clean up the game.
