For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Event Description

Hello, I will organize with the World Life Club a huge miniature wargame. The thema is the battle of Gravelotte St Privat, one of the biggest battle of the Franco-Prussian war of 1870. The surface area of the game will be 15 sqm and the number of miniatures around 8 000, so the view will be quite spectacular. I will need 11 motivated players, 6 for the German team and 5 for the French team. If you like history and/or strategy game, like chess, please feel free to participate. The game will be organized in November or December and it will be a two-three days event.

hello players, the game is played, once you read carefully the rulebook with 4 very convenient reference charts. Note that it's copyrighted and i hope you can make a copy of them just for the game and then i will suppress this content.

This time I will speak about the sequence of play ( which represents a period of 30 minutes of the battle)

First, it's the command and control phase during which you place order chits: the French can place one per division and the German one per brigade, it's command system being more efficient. There is three possible orders: charge, move or rally.

Second phase is order activation: you throw a 10 sided dice to determine if your order is activated, from 1 to 7 it is activated on average and 8,9 or 0, you fail. Then you declare your charges and rally your troops.

Third phase is Movement: you move and then you do the opportunity fire

Fourth phase is Fire:

1. artillery and mitrailleuses

2. rifles

3. charges and assaults

The last phase is the Melee

Hope this helps, I will explain with more details each phase during the preliminary meeting.
