For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Event Description

A group of expats from English First are going to GIP and bar hopping around on Tuesday night.  If it is successful we will try and make it a regular event.  If you like drinking games, bar food, and booze feel free to come by GIP.  I can send a pdf of the business card if you message me, it wont let me add pdf as an image.  We will be upstairs after 9.  The domain requires an end time on the same day but it will probably end around 2 AM.

Jack, there are three of us definitely going at about 9 on Tuesday night with 2 more considering.  We are planning on going out and having a few drinks, probably some very unhealthy deep fried bar food and seeing what the other bars are like on the street.  I have been to a few bars in Changchun and GIP for the first time last week.  The prices were decent, food was fast, and it seems more like a bar than a restaurant or club.  If you have any other questions please feel free to ask.

We spoke to the owner Victor and discussed starting a pub crawl with GIP as the staging point.  There are a few other bars/pubs on the street.  I am the conventional naive lao wai, give the taxi driver the address and hope I get to the correct place.  I am terrible with geography.  The phone number is 0431-81034003.  They had a couple of Russians performing some traditional dance, a live band (reminded me of something like Flight of the Conchords, only a bassist and guitarist).  I will try and take a photo of the business card and upload it for those that are better with directions.
