For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Strawberry Fields for never! Unfortunately, we were given prior notice about the Stawberry Rock festival at the beginning of October which we wrote about in this months Changchuner...but in typical fashion, we now find that it has been cancelled. Apologies all!

Many thanks to Team Changchuner, particularly Richard, Murin, Remy, Vincent and Mr Ma for your excellent cooperation in publishing the stories about ex-pat involvement in the film and television industries in Changchun, and broadly, a wide thank you for your combined efforts in continuing to produce an important bi-lingual ex-pat magazine for Changchun.

I am proud to show these articles about. It all takes time, but so far one of Chanchun's Sister Cities, Masterton, here near me, has received digital copies of them for sharing with the foreign relations committee for consideration, as supporting material for discussion. It is important that hard copies are available. I may be asked to present them for inspection.

To have the hard copies with me here is very beneficial, they have presence, have weight. The Changchuner is proof positive of significant English speaking life in the Far East, its very existence a testament to the warm welcome that is accorded all legitimate travellers and businesses by the authorities.

I'm long enough in the tooth to remember the first incarnation of the magazine, progressed by Richard and Alessandro through Raffles. The Changchuner now looks much better, bigger, glossier and brighter. It has good local content stories. I suspect the higher quality paper now will not so easily dissolve ...

If all recruiters for teaching, performing, study and tourism could ensure a link to Changchun Friends and to the Changchuner on-line it would be a good thing. If all ex-pat readers could be further encouraged to share the magazine within their homeland social and business networks, it would better. Perhaps our student readers also may be encouraged through a verifiable linking system to moonlight as network promoters - perhaps special pages for their contributions may be enough reward for some. A wider readership. Growth. Much to offer, more to come.

Positive progress - wonderful to share in, a joy to see. Thanks to all.
