For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Excellent Jack - excellent!

true story -

A friend of mine when I was at university went for an interview and they asked him to give an example of any leadership skills that he had shown

He replied that when he went to the pub all his friends came with him

he was not offered the job

I do recall a student in a high school writing in response to the question - Define courage? - on the literature exam. All he wrote for the necessary 2000 word response was, "THIS IS COURAGE!" and walked out. He passed.

Anyone here got some good examples?

Recently, I was taking an economics course and was reviewing the work of hernando de Soto, a recognised Peruvian economist who was named as one of the top 100 thinkers by Time magazine recently. At the end of the lecture, I asked all the students to research his work and provide a presentation on his main ideas

2 of the 5 groups came back with a presentation of a 16th century explorer - very interesting but slightly missing the point of my initial talk!
