For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.
Our Joseph, truly one of the best guy I have ever met in my life, a wonderful and committed teacher, a guy with a splendid smile, a kind hearted friend, one of those that have made Changchun a better place to live, left us today.
Those who had the luck in life to know him and those who wants to leave a message anyway, can use this blog to share some good memories. We will try to let his wife and daughter to see how much love he generated and still will create through his example and actions.
Thanks. Ciao JO!

Is there a memorial service planned?
I also knew Joseph, it was always friendly with a chat and a smile whenever we bumped into each other and I like him for that. But he was young, what possible could have happened to him?
Joseph, we feel your presence close to us always, and to Joseph's wife and family, our thoughts are with you as well as our prayers and any support you may need. Joseph departed this world early but the memory of him amoungst those whom he knew will last a lifetime. You are with God now my friend. We will never forget you. Rest in peace.
I only met Joseph once, outside Raffles. He was a very kind and outgoing person. He had the kind of attitude that was infectious. Excited, eager, bubbly. Joseph was not a teacher. He was an educator. He passed his knowledge on to others. He also passed on his spirit. He wasn't just a "teacher". That's the impression I got. After one meeting, I was proud to call him "friend". I am sorry that I didn't get to talk to him a second time, or even a third. However, after that first time, I felt like I had known him for years.
I know that Joseph's wife and their daughter will move forward, difficult as it is. But I also hope they will find solace in knowing that Joseph was liked, and admired, by many.
