For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Changchun Friends

a great way to get involved

I walked past this place on Sunday and they told me it would open on the following day (yesterday) - anyone tried it yet?

It is just round the corner from Grandpa's just off Xikang Liu

Not a bad place to go sit outside. Drinks were a little weak and a bit expensive compared to other local bars. The porch was really nice though.

Well Kim, I hope you are right . It would be a nice place to have a curry on a sunny evening

But will they serve food in the future?  I stopped in for a drink on the patio last week and there was a delicious smell coming from the back, it smelled like coconut milk and curry. I also thought I saw what looked like a pizza oven in the kitchen.

Unfortunately, it is a bar and does not serve food. Nice patio area however....

I'll have a SINGAPORE SLING, Sir.

Pour grenadine into the bottom of a collins glass, and fill with ice. Add gin, and almost-fill with equal parts of sweet and sour and chilled soda. Top with cherry brandy, and serve unstirred, garnished with a cherry.

This place looks cool. I saw the veranda patio area they have constructed, looks really nice...and especially convenient if you are at grandpas. Hope the prices are reasonable and don't reflect Singaporean prices!
