For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.
On June 23, the 2013 6th annual Jingyuetan, Changchun Vasa International Running Festival in Jilin, Changchun’s Jingyuetan National Forest Park came to an end.
In this Vasa running competition, Chinese participants displayed marvelous results.
Li Zicheng of Shandong, China took first place in the men’s open class 30 km division. He continously maintained the lead and eventually took the gold with a time of 1:46:28.52. Seeded participant Mari Riseth of Sweden did not disappoint the crowd when she took first place in the women’s open class 30 km division with a time of 2:11:23.68.
In the men’s open class 15 km division, Ai Shuang took the gold with a time of 1:11:15.14. Astrid Bruland won the women’s division with a time of 1:22:42.78.
Yu Heng and Tian Zhiwen won the men’s and women’s open class 7.5 km divisions with their respective times of 0:25:28.5 and 0:31:34.27.
In the men’s senior class 30 km division, 56-year-old Li Ming was crowned the gold with a time of 2:17:28.38. This year 59-year-old Zhang Guifan took the gold for the women’s division with a time of 3:06:16.83.
52-year-old Chen Rongxi snatched the gold in the men’s senior class 15 km division with a time of 1:11:01.65. 54-year-old Sun Dahua took the gold for the women’s division with a time of 1:38:39.63.
In the senior class 7.5 km division, 54-year-old Wang Chenghe and 50-year-old Zhong Yingfeng took home their respective golds with respective times of 0:31:58.23 and 0:45:49.71.
All of the Vasa competitions will end in the afternoon of the 23rd.
Although the length of the competition was not long, over 1000 participants from about 30 countries, including China, Sweden, and Germany, became acquainted and established deep friendshipsthrough this competition. In addition to the competition, participants also freely enjoyed the midsummer party and fully appreciated the meaning of “festival” in Vasa’a Running Festival.
Jinyuetan, Changchun Vasa International Running Festival was sponsored by the government of Changchun, Jilin Province’s Tourism Bureau, and Vasa Corporation in Changchun. This year’s 6th annual competition has already found a permanent spot in the calendar; it will be held annually at the end of June.
