For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Changchun Friends

a great way to get involved

I just moved to Changchun and I am looking to either join an English mass or start a gathering of English speaking Catholics on Sundays for those who are interested.  I have brought the new English mass books as was instituted for Advent with me.

Peace,
Heather

Hi Heather

I am a catholic - not a very good one!

david Puckett was looking to set up a group for reflection - when we meet we can discuss!

Excellent! :)

Heather, if you have time, try attend the carol concert event posted for this saturday. The people you need to see will be there. Looking forward to meeting you. Did you manage to connect to Neil before you arrived!?

No, but I didn't have the chance with all the running around before I arrived.  However, he is in the cube next to me here at the school, so I have found him anyway! :)  I am planning on coming on Saturday w/my colleague, Min.  I can't wait to meet everyone, but I'm still struggling when it gets to be 4pm each day...like now, for instance! ;)

Can you answer the question about the "House Party"?  Min and I remembered seeing something about that at "Happy Home" on Friday, but we can't find it anymore.  Has it changed, or is the event closed for further attendees?

For you both: I have a phone number now...coming to your inboxes now! :)

There's a big Catholic Church in Dong Si Dao Jie.. English Mass every Sunday at 2:30pm...  Foreigners go there..

I did, in fact, find this church and have attended three times...however, I will be heading to Harbin this weekend and Hong Kong the following...be there in a few weeks! :)

That's good to know.. Brace yourself for the frozen Harbin.. Are you going to the Ice Sculpture Fest?  Dress well..  warm gloves, earmuffs and shoes help a lot..
