For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. Changchun Friends

a great way to get involved

What's the cheapest way to get to Longjia Airport?

I'm not sure but I heard there was a train that can take you there from the train station? I'm willing to do any combination of bus/train/light rail as long as it's cheap.

Take the fast train to Jilin City and get off on the Longjia stop, leaves every half hour during the day, now from the Changchun North Station.  Takes about 15 minutes, used to be 9 but they have slowed the trains down.  From the Longjia train station its a short walk to the terminal.  Its only 9元, a taxi will cost you 100

Here is the train schedule:

I think I am correct in saying that to buy the train ticket you must pre book and take your passport with you.

An alternative way is to take the airport coach. I think it costs about 25 RMB. This drops you right outside so if you have heavy luggage with you......

thanks a bunch loves. where does the airport coach leave from?

The coach station but have no idea as to how to tell you where it is. The train is a good option but you need to walk a fair way across the car parks to get to the terminal. Will try and get further info about the coach. I I know it leaves every hour and you can just buy a ticket when you get there.

The airport bus station is on Jiefang Dalu and Dajing Lu 解放大路和大经交汇 at the base of a hotel, maybe its a Super 8 or something.  Its across the street from the 21st Century building ershiyi shijie lou 二十一世界楼.  Its about 10元 from Guilin Lu.  Bus 271 and 282 from Guilin Lu goes there.

You can say: fei ji chang qi che zhan for airport bus station.

Also at the bus station, you can share a taxi with other people, 2 people 50元, 3 people 35元 or whatever

For the train, I dont know if you need your passport to buy a ticket, there are machines that sell the tickets to the airport and Jilin City, and the airport is a short ride on the train, so tickets wont be sold out.  But I havent taken it from the new North station yet, so they may have changed things.

maybe u can put this one into  Question & Answer Advisory Office .

Have they moved the train from the old station to a new one. Not up on this. I always catch the bus.

i'm trying to avoid taking a cab at all costs. im pretty sure that i would need my passport to buy tickets from the train station to the airport. what i'm a little confused about is the whole buying in advance thing. i never buy train tickets in advance. would it be okay if i just showed up on the day of and hop on the train? cause i know they run all the time. also, they have moved the train from the old station to the new one. i took it when i went to jilin.

If you rode the train to Jilin City, the first station is Longjia Airport, so you've done the run.  Im pretty sure you dont need an advanced ticket to hop on the Jilin/Airport train, you can purchase it at the ticket hall or they have machines at the gate (they did at the old station)  to sell the ticket.  Not really familiar with the new station yet, except its BIG.

You can buy advanced ticket almost everywhere in the city and there are several in Guilin Lu area, they're easy to buy.  If you need help, contact me.

You can get to the new station by #4 light rail or 246 bus on Yatai Dajie, not sure of the other connects yet.  It is about a 15 minute not easy walk from the old station.

I think the old station will eventually be connected to the new station, then it will be more convenient.

You do need your passport to buy a ticket, just tell them Longjia, it's the first stop. You can buy tickets in advance from a ticket agent which means you know what train you will be on, or buy a ticket on the day at the station but you might end up standing in a long line if you do that, especially if there are a lot of people traveling. There's also the outside chance tickets will be sold out if you wait to buy one.

The old and new stations are connected, sort of. If you go to the extreme left (as you stand outside looking at the old station) there is a door which goes underground. Follow the masses and you'll end up under the new station.

take cab , about 100 RMB. but u can take fast train

Slightly off topic but where do trains to Beijing now leave from - still the old station?
