For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Changchun Friends

a great way to get involved

My changchun friends

As some of you might know I left Changchun to come back to my country last March

...some of you wouldn't believe I was gonna leave. but I did. Life's good here, I don't have much to complain about but jobs are scarce and even worse... I'm forgetting how to speak Chinese and I don't like the feeling of it... because when I left I was in my linguistic prime, learning proverbs and all.

So as I'm seizing my options  I'd like to ask you if you know about any job offer please contact me.

I've a  TESOL, IELTS and TOEFL all passed, and 4 years of teaching experience in China.
I can teach spanish, english and I can sing my ass off while I play the guitar.

if anyone knows about anything please let me know.

I miss you all.

Alex.

Come back Alehandro! We miss you!

Thank you guys !  since I'm married, fornication and travel won't pay my tickets, so I'm looking for work again lol. Though I'm sorry to hear Raffles is closing

I miss you all

Fratello, do your homework first. Unfortunately the new policies for teaching english in china are changed. By law, now schools and unies can only employ mother tongue (even though if not qualified teachers). Meaning to say that now, no matter if someone can teach well english, they will look at your passport first.

Those who will propose other deals, you have to know will go against the law.

So i suggest you look for other jobs, rather then teaching.

Alex, you should also know that "rules" are very flexible here. What may be SOP in Shanghai may not even be considered elsewhere.

Yes Chris, you are right. I just wish for Alex that he can find a legitimate job, without incurring in any troubles, since he's married with a local.

Of course, is then up to him to decide.

If he's married to a local, he (by law) should be able to get a 2-year residence visa, without having an actual job. I know. I tried to get one, and was told there was no such thing, even though I knew that was not true (and ... I had a job). The main thing is, Alex, you can't quote laws. They are too fluid. They can change at the drop of a hat.

Thank you Alex and Chris for your comments, I am aware of the changes in immigration laws that have taken effect lately so as Alex said, I should try finding other jobs. I think you are right, Fratello. And hopefully being married makes it easier, even though I only knew I could get a visa after being married and living in China for 5 years.  Next time I don't think teaching will be an option, but I'll be looking around, and I will surely visit sometime this year.

Happy new year guys :)

Looking forward to seeiNg you again. With your skateboard!

Yes, my skateboard is coming too. Though I can't wait to see my guitar and my amplifier so I can use them to make you smile again with all the noise I make
