For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Changchun Friends

a great way to get involved

i was born and raised up till to teenagers in a place, then study years in a different place, then working and living in so many different places, i was and even now am so confused to answer people's question like as " where are u from",, easy to talk to people not Chinese, because i can easily say ok I'm from China, to Chinese,, wow, so difficult, i don't have any "standard local accent", so nobody think i m their town mate !

sometimes feeling lost, hahaha.

Technically, your hometown is the one you were born in. However, you can have an "adopted" hometown, which would be the one you are most comfortable in, or spent the most time in.

Interesting post Ruth and something that might interest you- a friend is going to give a talk on Brighton ( England where he grew up) and Tokyo ( where he has many happy memories. Yet to set a date but I see from your profile that you have spent a lot of time in Tokyo so you may find this of interest.

Hope to set the date for the talk this week

I was born in Nigeria, went to school in Liverpool, went to Uni in Bradford and workers in London and Singapore before coming here. What is my home town?

I once did an interview with Wilhelm who runs Die Backstube and is from Germany and my final question was where he considered home

CHANGCHUN, was his reply

thanks you guys, for all your reply and share. well, i guess so far i don't belong to Changchun, but not so sure about the future. if i stay here for another more than decades, then i can say aloud i am a Changchunnese,,, anyway, thanks again for the info, too. i m looking forward to attending the talk and meet you people. have a nice day, everybody.

Actually Ruth, you raise an interesting point - what do you call someone from Changchun?

A Changchunnese? A Changchunian? A Chunter!,,,, or a Changian?
