For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Changchun Friends

a great way to get involved

Hi just wanted to put up this discussion out there and see what kind of business and services are missing here in Changchun.  Maybe it will help some of us teachers and students to start our own small business.

A good wine bar!
Ok. Some other things- no business here but things I miss!

Puff pastry mix
Meat and cheese and onion pies
Decent bacon

I do think that we should do an inventory of what is available at Sam's and publicise it in Grandpas and Grandmas- monthly- highlighting new products.

Good dance music nights, with decent electronic music and an actual dancefloor.

(but I'm not sure how much other people miss that, might be just me)

No, you're not the only one; I miss good house music and actual dance floors, too!

A place where you can shop, browse by yourself without twenty people surrounding you as you decide what to buy!

A B&M Vape shop!!

How about a barber shop where they know more hairstyles than:

1) The Three Stooges Cut-around-the-salad-bowl style

2) The Beatles style

3) The U.S. Marine Recruit style

and last, but not least ...

4) the freakin' Mullet!!

I used to have number 1 when i was very small and at school, got stuck with the nickname Mowgli for god knows how long!
