Book: An evil cradling by Brian Keenan to remind me how fortunate I am not to be in captivity.
Film: Airplane...to keep me happy and so that I can watch it 100 times and try and see all of the humour in it.
Music: "Can you feel it"? by the Jacksons as it always makes me dance like nobody is watching!
Food: Copious amounts of toad in the hole to remind me of home.

The Film- either The Princess Bride or the original 39 Steps
Music - Mozart always
Food - a never ending supply of bacon and eggs

Excellent choice David. 1984 is an awesome book. His use of language is so precise and clean. And as you say the message is as clear today as when he wrote it in 1948. Scary as hell and it just shows you the importance of language as a tool- for good or evil

Indeed!
It was between 1984 and A Clockwork Orange ( a lot more violent b ut just as powerful)
1984 has had more of an impact; even to the point it spawned new terms/concepts to the english language
