For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Changchun Friends

a great way to get involved

Could we have or do we have a TED like talk event in Changchun, not necessarily limited to Tech/Entertainment/Design but including city life, chinese culture, business ideas etc.

This could be a fun session on the weekends/once a week kind of talks.

If this idea is buzy, we can talk on more ideations and suggestions.

Come on Choonies. Things may follow!

Good idea!
I think it would be good to set up a group - changchun TED - and ask people to suggest areas they would be willing to give a talk on. Willing to give a talk!

Yes i believe ideas will float in. People here would have a lot to share.

Once we have 4-5 ideas we can organize the first session.

But before that, Richard can we pull in more people and let them know about this ?

Lets take more reactions, what say ?

Sam

I have been musing on the concept of which comes first or which is more important - freedom or equality?

I want to run with this Sam great idea.

Set up a group rather than just a blog. Then we can start putting up ideas.

I have been musing on the concept of which is more important - freedom or equality..?

Here is a video of Milton Friedman discussing this very idea ( unfortunately you need to Youtube to see it)

Here is Milton Friedman arguing that freedom is important:

And here is a debate:

Hope we can move this forward.

I have many other ideas to talk about!
Apologies for repeating myself in the last blog but cannot be bothered to go and correct. The meaning should still be clear!
