For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Been watching some classic Brit comedies- Phoenix Nights and Im ALan Partridge.  Peter Kay and Steve Coogan in the title roles really carry the shows well, with strong supporting cast. Both very funny.

Phoenix Nights is about a club up north and the trials and tribulations of Brian Potter. Alan Partridge follows Alan, a radio Dj who gets into troubles in his daily life and work.

Just recently I've been watching "Grimm", and American series that looks at Fantasy through the eyes of a policeman with unique abilities!
I also recommend "Continuum", again kind of a sci-fi fantasy police drama.
The British tv show I am watching at the moment is called "line of duty". Really good and is being aired on BBC2

The Promise is a 4 part TV drama from Channel 4 in the UKabout Palestine and creation of Israel plus parallels to current day affairs. It tells the story of a granddaughter's trip to her Jewish friend's home and also the story of her grandfather from a diary she discovered hidden at his home. It is very powerful and moving, harrowing and informative. Well acted and filmed on location, and I think it is a very important piece of TV drama that shows a story that has almost been hidden. The research for this drama was extensive and probably would make another interesting watch but they say the information gathered from people who actually took part in the real story, nearly took a year to read. Highly recommended.

Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted

Saw this at Wanda Plaza with Thomas and Mary. Cost 160 yuan for 2 and Thomas got in free but he didn't qualify for 3D glasses. To get a pair he had to pay 80 yuan - we explained that we were only going in to look after Thomas but after 3 levels of employees had discussed the dilemma, glasses were for paying customers only. Fortunately, a guy was selling Madagascar souvenirs, one being 3D glasses for 30 yuan - 50 yuan cheaper than buying Thomas a movie ticket.

The film was great and the evil French Animal Pest Controller Captain Chantel DuBois (Frances McDormandis just perfect.

Great family movie.

Mrs Brown is a new BBC comedy - it's a bit blue but it is funny.

The above link takes you to the BBC site where you can watch many clips that will have you laughing - the first one is a corker.

Episode 2 of Touch is also out - this is a very good TV show - well above average and great escapism.

Game Change - A new movie about Sarah Palin and Senator McCain and this is a great film about recent American politics. The acting is suberb and the story brilliant almost fictional. Three great actors at their best John McCain (Ed Harris) , Steve Schmidt (Woody Harrelson) and Sarah Palin (Julianne Moore)

The story of the 2008 U.S. presidential campaign of John McCain.

Bloody good and then some.

See it here
