For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Changchun Friends

Information

Tennis and badminton

Mark is a physical education instructor at Jilin University and he wants to find like minded people to join him to play tennis or badminton at his campus. He is willing to help coach anyone, or just play with them. He in return just wants the chance to practice his spoken English with you. His English is pretty good so communication won't be too much of a problem!

No worries Chris, get well soon.

Wow, I also have a friend joining tonight. My wife also said she will be there, so that's a maybe... For you new-comers, in the comments below there is a link to the location. There are 21 members in the group now. I hope at least half can show up. There is only one tennis room available and if anyone wants to play tennis (not badminton), please call Mark on 18643113908. For playing badminton, there is enough space.

A bit of background on Mark (he has trouble signing in). He is a fitness trainer associated with the school. If he is there, he will let us play for free provided you speak English to him (very important). Otherwise, because it is a school gym, you have to pay 35rmb / hour per field. I suggest not coming on your own. If you bring friends you can split the costs. Only members of this group are allowed in, so make sure they sign up before going to the court.

- There are other students playing and they usually don't mind if you play with them. Remember that they are students and a bit shy and find it hard to say 'no', so use your own judgement before 'cutting' in. ;)

Won't be able to join you this week, Martin. I'd feel pretty bad if I gave everyone my head cold.

My boy ... it's not the racquet ... it's how you use it ...

All right, Last Friday was fun (in a world of hurt the next day though).

As I just purchased a racquet for a large amount of money, I need to test it out and kick some ass on the playground.

This Friday, please come and join me!

Thanks for the games, Mark and Martin. Had fun. I'll definitely be back.
