For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Changchun Friends

a great way to get involved

Mason is this jolly chap who keeps stealing content from this site and posting it elsewhere without asking us! Jolly good show. That is what I like to see - ethical business practices!

Anyway - he is very elusive - no-one has ever seen him! Is he the figment of some master of the Universe?

We seek him here!

We seek him there!

We Frenchies seek him everywhere

Is he in heaven?

Is he in hell?

Come on Mason, please tell!

The poem is a take on the Scarlet Pimpernell by the way - fitting as the latest theft was for a French meeting organised by Vinz!

I am inclined to side with Tim here. It's my business to help students through culture learn but that doesn't mean they just show up and don't participate. That's happening a lot with these days! And like tim states, I am not willing to be a teacher 24/7.

Isn't that a picture of one of the 2 guys who came with A.Y. to the Happy Home Grand Opening?

According to CCS, Manson updated his profile yesterday, and I think he pout a photo up...so maybe he is listening to us...anyway this is him...I WANT MY 500!

Vinz makes a good point, as does Martin. I guess the only gripe I have is the nature of the CCS site. It is apparently geared towards business and attracting the greatest number of people to join the site. The events that they haven't <ahem> "borrowed" from us just seem like free English corners for students to come practice their English.

I absolutely invite people of all languages to participate in the events that I post, the key word being "PARTICIPATE". I always get a little vexed when there is a group of people that stand around doing nothing but trying to start conversations without actually joining in the activities. A good example is bowling. In the past, there have been people that have come out only to sit around trying to small talk me while I am trying to do what I came out to do: BOWL.

The CCS founders may thrive with that kind attention and adoration, but seriously, I get all the attention I need when I'm in the classroom; I don't want to be an English teacher when I'm trying to kick back with my friends.

I agree with Martin : it is a very ambiguous situation we have here.

On one hand it is nice to have our event posts widening their target : more people aware, more people to come, more people involved, more fun!

On the other hand, the way it is posted makes the site users think that they are the organisers and doing this reduces the credit and effort of the real organizer which is unice.

There is also the problem of doing it without asking which of course is a bit unethical or simply impolite...

Yeah... doesn't he look like an SB? not because of his actions.. his face really makes him look like that.

I love this word stolen - they seem to be advertising our events and when they appear at them they will see who organised it - and even if they don't do we care - the more people at an event the better. So MASON keep the good work up and find other sites that can "STEAL" our events.

In fact maybe MASON can promote CCF and CCL as we need a lot more exposure. Remember everybody in this city is a Choonie and our sites are aids to bring us all together.

Hey Alejandro - if you have an accont on this website perhaps you could write to him saying I would like to buy him a glass of wine at my Cheese and wine evening next Sunday at Grandma's and then I can discuss with him the issues I have. I think Mason and I can work it out! He just needs to contact me!
